Character Info-
-Full Name: Samuel "Sam/Sammy" Hund
-Gender: Male
-Species: Born Lycan (Weredog)
-PB: Shia LaBeouf
-Character Age and DOB: 18 May 22
-Complete Character Description: In human form, Sammy is as unobtrusive and unremarkable as possible. He stands at 5'9, but rarely looks it due to a persistent slouch, as well as his being extremely underfed. When human, he pays little attention to clothes, usually wearing the first thing he finds, no matter its state of cleanliness. As a dog, he is of medium size and generally shepherd looking, but with no clear cut breed. No matter what form he is in, Sam always has on an old metal chain collar bearing a dog tag just as old. The words have almost entirely rubbed away by now, but if one were to look closely they might just work out his name, an address, and a long-dead telephone number.
-Personality: More than anything else, Sammy is a good dog, or at least tries to be. He is a born submissive whose first instinct is to roll over and show his stomach at the first sign of a confrontation and thus far his instincts have served him well. However, Sammy lives in the hope that one day all the posturing will be returned in kind by an alpha who will give him a return to the comfortable home life he had as a pup. The fact that this hasn't happened yet does little to dull his optimism and as a result it takes an inhuman amount of abuse for him to leave whomever he has taken on as his new master. Just as unfortunate is the fact that Sam's doggish loyalty makes him prone to forming bonds with just about anyone who shows him the least bit of kindness or even acknowledgement. Like The Boss says, "end up like a dog that's been beat too much..."
Sam prefers the company of regular humans to that of vampires or even other lycans, especially wolves. The general wildness of them sets his teeth on edge and gets all his instincts going the wrong way. But he is quick to recognize those stronger than him and treats them accordingly, regardless of species. When he gets the chance to simply be himself without anyone to please, Sammy is a friendly, fun-loving, loyal young man, fond of goofing off, chasing things, and tennis balls.
-Background: Born in the happy lanes and cul de sacs of suburbia, Sam spent his early childhood as a perfectly normal little boy. Excepting the fact that he was born to a family of weredogs, of course. The Hunds were careful of their family secret and their children grew up fully aware of it, acting the part of normalcy while the house was more often overrun by hyperactive puppies than children. Unlike most lycans who avoided human interaction when possible, as weredogs they possessed an almost instinctual desire to be near humans and did their best to blend in socially. At the same time, the family was set up in a pack heirarchy and young Sam's role was to remain under his parents' paws until the time came when he left to start his own pack. But the meteor changed those plans.
It changed a lot of things and instead of continuing with his carefree childhood, Sammy found himself on the road with his family. Although they stuck it out for as long as they could, it eventually became clear that they would have to leave Quebec. Sticking mostly to their dog forms, they followed scattered groups of humans across the devestated countryside. It was a partnership as old as history and one that worked well for both humans and dogs. Unfortunately, the long periods solely spent as a canine didn't do wonders for Sam's human social skills, but it could hardly be helped. The boy was alive and, more than that, he was thriving in his chosen niche.
Everything might have kept going fine for the family if they hadn't made the decision to go to Reno. It was good for a while, but when the city's leadership changed, the pack was loathe to leave the place they had come to call home. It turned out to be a bad decision in the end. Both of Sam's parents were killed by vampires and stronger lycans and his littermates simply disappeared. Alone in the world and not knowing where to turn, the pup did what he could to survive, becoming a genuine dogsbody, working his way for scraps. Along the way he found himself being 'taken in' by those stronger than he was, with the resulting partnership always starting bad and ending worse. Sammy's natural passive disposition meant that the cycle of abuse would continue unabated until something major happened to force the young dog to fight or flight. In the end, Sammy chose flight, running from the city after a particularly brutal beating and not daring to look back.
Vegas was a new start and easy enough pickings for one small, half-starved mutt. The big city is full of hiding spaces and food and Sam is quite happy to take advantage of it all, still living as a dog, just for the convenience.
-Weakness(es): Silver. head and heart trauma, those in positions of command and power, illiteracy, music, having the back of his head scratched, tennis balls
-Abilities Due to Species: Increased speed, agility, strength, etc, heightened senses (especially smell)
-Talents and Hobbies: Never exactly having much of a normal life after the meteors, Sam's hobbies are few. Simple things make him happy and by extension count as hobbies; games of catch, messing around in the dirt, and tracking things. There isn't much in the way of talents other than his incredible sense of smell and uncanny knowledge of pre-meteor pop culture, especially music and television shows. And, while it may not count as a talent, he is normally very good at pandering to those over him.
-Family and Friends: Andrew and Lucy Hund (parents, both deceased), Jimmy, Alice, Kevin, Eliza, Hannah (siblings, unknown)
-Hotel or Location of Character: Currently splitting his time between the backdoor of the kitchens at the human breeding center and an overturned trashcan behind Caesar's Palace
-How long has your character been in Vegas (or the hills or the compound, etc): A few weeks in Vegas, entirely in dog form, but he spent quite a while in Reno before arriving there.
-Job/Duty/Position: Stray and scrounger as of now
